 Introduce yourself?

"Hi, I'm Jack Bruce, a singer-songwriter from London now living in Kent. I'm a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and I'm passionate about creating music that tells stories and connects with people. I'm a happy-go-lucky kind of guy with a lot of experiences and stories to share through my songs. Music is my way of expressing myself and connecting with others, and I'm excited to share my journey with you. I've always been drawn to the power of music to bring people together and inspire emotions, and I feel lucky to be able to do what I love every day. Through my music, I hope to entertain, inspire, and maybe even make a difference in some small way."

What made you get into music?

"Music has always been a huge part of my life. Growing up, my household was filled with all sorts of music – from Fleetwood Mac to Simply Red, Alanis Morissette, and more. My sister and I would dance around the living room, and I remember how the music made me feel. As I got older, I discovered a love for pop music, artists like the Sugababes, Stacie Orrico, and Pink really spoke to me. That's when I found my voice and my passion for singing. I started writing songs, but it wasn't until I was diagnosed with depression that music became my true refuge. Unfortunately, I faced a lot of bullying and criticism for not fitting traditional masculine norms – people would mock my voice and the way I sang. It was a really tough time. But everything changed when I discovered Amy Winehouse. Her raw, honest songwriting and unique style made me feel seen and understood. I realized I could write about my own experiences and emotions, and that gave me a sense of safety and freedom. Earlier this year my depression hit again, and I asked myself what would bring me happiness. The answer was music – it's always been music. So, I decided to push myself and share my songs with the world. The response has been incredible – people have shown me so much love, and they're asking for more. It's been a real validation, and I'm excited to keep creating and sharing my music."

Are you performing at any Pride events this year?

"I'm not performing at any Pride events this year, but I am working hard in the studio on my album and getting ready to gig later in the year. However, I will be attending Medway Pride in August – I'm really looking forward to meeting people and supporting all the talented acts on the platform. Medway Pride is actually on my bucket list to play and be a part of, so fingers crossed that might happen in the future! I'm excited to show my support and be part of the community, even if it's not as a performer this year."
